Beyond the Numbers: Why Health is So Much More Than Just a Number on a Scale

What does it mean to be healthy? We often think of health as being associated with numbers on a scale, or BMI, or other physical measurements.

But health is about so much more than just what can be measured. It’s about the way that you feel and the way that you move in your day-to-day life. And when you start looking at health from this perspective, it can open up a world of o opportunities for improving your overall wellbeing.

Feeling Your Best

At its core, health is all about feeling your best and having the energy to do the activities that bring you joy. It’s not just about what number shows up when you step on the scale; it’s about how well you sleep, how much energy you have during the day, and how confident and capable you feel in your own skin.

When we focus on feeling our best instead of counting calories or obsessing over numbers, we’re able to make healthier choices that lead to sustainable results in the long run.

Moving Your Body

Another important aspect of health is movement–the ability to move without pain or discomfort, and even better, with ease! Moving our bodies doesn’t have to mean going to the gym for an intense workout; it could be something as simple as going for a walk around your neighborhood each morning or playing catch with your kids in the backyard.

The key is finding something enjoyable and making it part of your regular routine so that exercising becomes fun instead of something dreaded.

Making Connections

Finally, one aspect of health often overlooked is connection–the ability to connect with ourselves and others in meaningful ways. This could include connecting with yourself through mindful meditation practices or journaling exercises; connecting with family by spending quality time together; or connecting with friends through activities like yoga or volunteering.

Cultivating these connections brings us joy and allows us to live our lives in harmony with those around us.

Being healthy isn’t just about numbers on a scale–it’s so much more than that! It’s about feeling our best, moving our bodies in ways that bring us joy, and cultivating meaningful connections both within ourselves and with those around us.

By focusing on these aspects of our health journey we can find true balance and wellbeing for years to come!

The Conversation That Still Haunts Me

I’ll never forget him. A guy I used to work with when I was still driving. Sharp. Dependable. The kind of guy everyone liked. But underneath all that? You could see it—he was empty. Same truck. Same hours. Same paycheck. And the same look in his eyes… Like life had slowly drained the color out…
