How to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others and Reach Your Big Goals

Social comparison can be a thief of joy and progress. When you focus on what others have, you may find yourself feeling inadequate or unaccomplished.

It is easy to get lost in the endless cycle of comparing yourself with everyone else, but it won’t bring you anything worth having.

Let’s look at 3 ways to stop the comparison and start reaching your big goals.

Focus on Your Unique Strengths and Abilities

Everyone has something that they are good at or enjoy doing. Maybe you like playing the piano, writing stories, or photography. Whatever your unique strengths and abilities are, make sure to focus on them and use them as motivation for reaching your goals.

Everyone has different skills, so don’t compare yours with anyone else’s. Instead, use your abilities as a way to reach your goals faster. Additionally, focusing on what makes you unique can help boost your self-esteem and show you that there is something special about what you have to offer the world.

Celebrate Your Small Wins

It can take time to reach big goals—so celebrate each win along the way! Every small victory should be celebrated because it adds up over time which will eventually lead to bigger successes down the road. For example, if one of your goals is to write a book then celebrate when you finish writing a chapter or when you get some positive feedback from a beta reader.

If a goal of yours is to lose 10lbs then celebrate when you hit 4lbs because that means that 6 more pounds are closer than ever before! Celebrating small wins will keep you motivated and remind yourself why it’s worth striving for those big goals in life.

Create Time for Self-Care

Sometimes we feel down because we try too hard or push ourselves too far in order to reach our goals faster. This can lead us into burnout mode where we end up feeling overwhelmed and discouraged because we haven’t made enough progress yet.

To prevent this from happening create time in your schedule for self-care activities such as yoga, meditating, journaling etc… Doing activities like these will help clear your mind so that when it comes time to tackle large tasks again you will be recharged with energy and ready to go!

Coming up with strategies like these will help keep comparison thoughts away so that instead of worrying about what everyone else has achieved; you can focus on building something meaningful out of what you have now .

It’s important not to get stuck in the vicious cycle of comparing yourself with others because it won’t get you anywhere worthwhile.. Remember that everyone has different skills and abilities so instead of comparing yours with theirs focus on honing yours towards achieving success! By utilizing these three tips—focusing on strengths & abilities , celebrating small wins & creating time for self-care —you can stay focused on reaching even your biggest goals while keeping comparison thoughts away!

So take some action today by reflecting on how these strategies could work best for YOU!   Good luck !

The Conversation That Still Haunts Me

I’ll never forget him. A guy I used to work with when I was still driving. Sharp. Dependable. The kind of guy everyone liked. But underneath all that? You could see it—he was empty. Same truck. Same hours. Same paycheck. And the same look in his eyes… Like life had slowly drained the color out…
